Tom Hanks is a great actor… but who knew that he might also be a great teacher offering a useful perspective for Caregivers?
I recently read a great blog entitled “What Tom Hanks Taught us About Loneliness in Seniors” and found the lesson very useful particularly from the angle of using something familiar to help us talk and think about something that might be uncomfortable.
This is where AWAREness comes from; a familiar place taking us somewhere unfamiliar yet providing us the comfort to look around.
Loneliness is a huge Caregiver issue… whether it is the person requiring and receiving Care that might feel lonely due to a lack of mobility/capability or the person providing them Care feeling lonely due to the isolating nature of being a Caregiver.
Remember… You are a Caregiver…Not a Castaway!
It is such a significant issue that the NY Times published an article entitled “Researchers Confront an Epidemic of Loneliness”
So, in the spirit of using something familiar to present something new… I invite you to follow this journey (with many detour links provided) to further explore loneliness from a PRO-PER™ Perspective… it is my belief here at “Defender Of Caregivers” that the Personal/Family Caregiver should never feel as if they have to be lonely or alone!
Go back and follow the links provided (click on the underlined titles) and enjoy your Caregivers journey!
Thank YOU for Caring!
